Elvis Costello anuncia relançamento de 'Armed Forces', álbum de 1979

Uma versão expandida de “Armed Force” (1979), terceiro álbum de estúdio de Elvis Costello, chegará às lojas no próximo dia 6 de novembro, anunciou o cantor britânico nas redes sociais. Além de demos, lados B e outtakes, o lançamento incluirá versões alternativas e gravações inéditas ao vivo.

“The Complete Armed Forces”, que já está disponível em pré-venda, terá nove discos, incluindo o álbum “Armed Force” (1979) recém-masterizado e uma compilação de oito outtakes (“Sketches for Emotional Fascism”). O box também apresentará lados B dos sucessos “Oliver’s Army”, “Accidents Will Happen” e “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love & Understanding” (feat. Nick Lowe), além de gravações ao vivo de shows realizados em Hollywood (1978), Sydney (1978), Londres (1978) e no festival PinkPop (1979), nos Países Baixos.

Fotografias raras, quadrinhos, coleção de notas manuscritas de Costello e cartões postais em estilo vintage completam a coleção (assista uma prévia no vídeo acima).

Lançado em 5 de janeiro de 1979, “Armed Force” foi um importante marco de transição de gêneros musicais na carreira de Costello. Após um disco mais influenciado pelo punk-rock (“This Year’s Model”, 1978), o álbum seguinte teve maior influência do new wave. A obra teve como backing vocals o grupo britânico The Attractions.
